Welcome to the Commission Introduction of AvatarArt. If you haven't yet browsed through our galleries, they can give you some ideas for getting your own original art created, as well as showcase just a few of the things we're capable of. Basically, if you can dream it, we can do it.
We've developed our own Creation Guide to start this imaginative process. The Creation Guide is a form that asks you to think through how you'd like your idea to look, to help us best show your imagination.
Next to consider are the options for your distinctive piece.... Let's say you were interested in having a character from a game you played or story you wrote illustrated. How far do you want your vision of that character to go? We have 4 stages or, Levels, that we use as a basis for our time and your cost. Here is what you'll select from:
I. ART LEVELS
BASIC
- a custom made pencil sketch, sent to you in a high resolution, PDF file
- one round of any changes to get things right
- only $25
($10 to re-create same character again!)
EXPERT
- one of a kind pencil design with shading
- two total rounds of any changes to make sure you're happy
- the pencil sketch from the process is added as a bonus
- an affordable $50
($25 to re-create same character again!)
MASTER
- a professional model, chock full of details and highlights
- three total rounds of any changes to ensure you're delighted
- the pencil sketch and the shading are also included for 2 other views. This is like getting 3 art pieces at once!
- a very reasonable $75 (comparable art is 2x that)
($35 to re-create same character again!)
IMMORTAL
- unique pencil shading with plenty of features and aspects
- a color overlay (literally coats or layers of digital paint over the final drawing) is added
- 4 total rounds of any changes to make sure it is perfect
- includes a pencil sketch, shaded drawing, and a professional model. You're getting 4 great pieces of art with this level!!
- a worthwhile $150 to turn your idea into a lasting form
($50 to re-create same character again!)
II. BACKGROUNDS
WHITE/None
Here we have the portrait by herself. This format is suitable for putting on clothing or those wanting a clean look, with the emphasis focused on the character. It is also the default background for all Levels (except IMMORTAL*).
COLORED
*All IMMORTAL images come included with an appropriately colored backdrop free of charge. The finished work is ready to be printed, framed, and placed where you can best enjoy it.
(Other Levels can have this for an additional $5 to their cost)
DESIGNED
And finally, the piece de resistance: you have us create your choice of a background, which will totally enhance the figure(s). Surely this is an incredible way to make great art even better.
FULL COLOR
Full Color backgrounds truly are separate works of art themselves and can be added to any Level at less than half of cost to create that Level:
$10 for BASIC Level Backgrounds
$20 for EXPERT Level Backgrounds
$30 for MASTER Level Backgrounds
Full color layering is more complicated and labor-intensive, so it figures out to $50 for IMMORTAL Level Backgrounds.
Yes, you can mix and match different Levels when you select a background, so you could have a MASTER Level commission with a BASIC Level backdrop. Or even vice versa.
Alright, so you've chosen both the Level and what Background you want.
Now it's time to send the necessary funds for your commission so we can begin (This option is also available at the end of the Online Creation Guide):
III. PAYMENT
Once you've decided on the details for your personal commission, and submitted the completed Creation Guide, we'll send out an invoice. This funding can be done online via PayPal or sent 'snail mail' with a personal check or money order.
There is a small 5% fee for the electronic transfer option. Please be aware of this necessary 'tax' should you choose the PayPal route. You will be emailed a receipt which serves as proof of payment. If you're sending us a personal check or money order, we'll let you know when it arrives. Checks may take up to 10 business days to clear, but money orders are processed within 2-3 business days.

After we have requisite backing, your commission can commence. This is the exciting part...
IV. PROCESS
We will use what you've provided us in the Creation Guide to begin, sending you a link to your personal gallery login where you can see the draft to start from. We'll go from there, updates coming from our end with you replying with any comments, which we'll then use to make revisions according to your wishes. Each piece involves approximately 1 week per Level, with DESIGNED backgrounds adding an additional week to the time. We want you to be completely satisfied with your commission yet still be able to keep our pricing affordable. Each Level comes with a set number of times with which you can request changes.
Changes beyond this prescribed number cost $10 per round. The more detailed and specific you are with the Creation Guide, the less the changes. And the faster you'll receive your finished art. (READ A PROFESSIONAL REVIEW OF THE AvatarArt PROCESS)
V. CONCLUSION
Once you are delighted with the end result, we will email you the image as a high-resolution PDF and/or TIF file suitable for printing at any size. (Because of artistic integrity as well as shipping costs originals are never sold, sorry) AvatarArt strives to craft truly satisfying pieces.
